Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines has announced plans to launch flights on eight international routes before the year-end.

The airlines also announced suspension of services on the Bangalore-London and Bangalore-Colombo routes from 15 September, and instead launching two new flights on Mumbai-Singapore and Mumbai-Hong Kong sectors from the next day.

Jet Airways on Friday announced the introduction of a second daily service to Bangkok from Mumbai using its Boeing 737-800 aircraft, commencing 16 August 2009. (See: Jet Airways to launch second daily Mumbai-Bangkok service in August)

Kingfisher's new flights would be daily direct return services and operated by new Airbus A330-200 aircraft, an airline spokesperson said, adding that the bookings for travel on these two sectors would be opened shortly.

The decision to suspend two of its flights out of Bangalore was taken with a view to "ensure optimal and efficient utilisation of its fleet and looking at the booked loads and yields between September and November," he said.

From the winter schedule, which begins end-October, the airlines would start operating on six more international routes, subject to approval by the civil aviation ministry.
