Dr. Jayaram to head Infosys Leadership Institute

Infosys Technologies, which recently announced the setting up the Infosys Leadership Institute at Mysore to take care of the growing challenges its managers have to face, has identified the person to lead the institute.

The company announced the appointment of Dr. Jayaram, co-founder and the Chairman of TranSys, a global computer software consulting firm, as Director of the Institute. He will be responsible for the effective running of the Institute as well as driving the initiative to nurture future leaders of the company.

According to a company communiqu a thorough knowledge of technology and behavioural sciences, and extensive experience in change management make Dr. Jayaram ideal for this post. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of consulting and has worked worldwide with diverse industries at all levels of the organization, from the boardroom to the shop floor.

Besides having a degree in management from the prestigious IIM-Ahmedabad and a doctrate in behavioural sciences from the University of California, Dr. Jayaram brings with him experience in varied organizations like Arthur D. Little, Coopers & Lybrand and AT&T. Dr. Jayaram has distinguished himself as visiting faculty in prestigious institutions such as Stanford University, California, University of Cincinnati, Ohio and the Institute of Socioeconomic Change, Bangalore.

With strategic planning and issues in organization structure being part of his consulting experience, he has to his credit

several publications and manuscripts. He is a frequent presenter and keynote speaker at international conferences, on the issue of organizational development.

Infosys Technologies plans to make the institute the cornerstone of its leadership program for its employees all over the world. This institute, it believes, will help manage Infosys’ phenomenal growth, prepare Infoscions to face the complexities of the rapidly changing marketplace and bring about a paradigm shift in the work culture by instilling leadership qualities.

As Mr. NR Narayana Murthy, chairman of the company states, the insitute has been conceptualised to bring new ideas to fruition, make the transition to new paradigms and embrace change.

Accepting his new responsibilities Dr. Jayaram said that this was a very challenging initiative and he would do his best to ensure that the objective of fostering leaders with a global focus will be met. The aim, he said, is to select high potential people from all over Infosys, and set them forth on developmental journeys helping them to transcend what they thought they could do.
