Hong Kong:  Swiss bank, Credit Suisse has appointed Sakthi Siva as the managing director, Asia Pacific equity strategist and global emerging markets, in a move to strengthen the banks research franchise.

Siva will work with the company's country and global strategy research teams in order to develop original and value-added research on regional and global emerging market strategy for Credit Suisse and report to  the bank's head of equity research for non-Japan Asia, Ali Naqvi.

Siva has more than 20 years of experience in macro economics and equity research and strategy.  She has held senior research positions in Australia and Singapore during her tenure at UBS.

She was the chief Asian strategist at UBS since January 2004 before being hired by  Credit Suisse. She started her career at Reserve Bank of Australia as a Research Economist, and has worked for Macquarie Bank and Ord Minnett in Australia in different research roles.

An Oxford University graduate with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Arts,  Siva is expected to assume her role at Credit Suisse in June, and will continue to be based in Singapore.

The Credit Suisse Bank, headquartered in Zurich, is the second largest bank in Switzerland, behind UBS. The bank operates in three organised divisions, including investment banking, private banking, and asset management.

In January 2006, Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB), the current investment banking division, Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), and Credit Suisse Private Banking (CSPB), re-branded themselves, becoming collectively known as Credit Suisse.
