Timex MD Kapil Kapoor to act as South Pacific, India chief too

Mumbai: Timex Watches has announced that its managing director, Kapil Kapoor, will now have an expanded role as regional director, South Pacific and India.

Says Kapoor: "This appointment means I will oversee the South Pacific operations in strategic markets like the Philippines, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand of Timex in addition to running the India operations. It will mean more travel for me certainly, but I have a strong supporting team in the top management of Timex India that I''ve worked with closely over the last three years.

"I have also worked in the Far East just before coming to Timex India and am very familiar with the region. I am certainly looking forward to the challenge of this regional responsibility in addition to my present work here in India."

Timex recently announced the sale of over a billion watches globally. The Timex story dates all the way back to 1857 when it was established as the Waterbury Clock Company. The first Timex wristwatch was introduced in 1950 and quickly became the generic name in the field. Timex has a multi-brand strategy ranging from the sporty and high-tech to the dressy. There are also a variety of watches in cool colours and shapes aimed at the young and hip.
