Chennai: Cognizant Technology Solutions has entered into a partnership with T-Systems, a division of Deutsche Telekom, to take over its India operations.

As part of the new business partnership, the 1, 150 employees of T-Systems India will be transferred to Cognizant. In effect, Cognizant will become T-Systems' supplier for offshore services from India.

Cognizant said the alliance would help strengthen its presence in the European market and help the firm gain access to key sectors such as automotive and telecommunications.

Cognizant feels that the tie up will also help the company to make additional revenue. The company expects to generate around $40 million in revenue from offshore operations, as well as revenue resulting from jointly winning new clients.

With the tieup, Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. has joined other Indian software firms, such as Infosys Technologies Ltd and Satyam Computer Services Ltd, in partnering with local firms to strengthen front-end capabilities in the global market.
