Bangalore: Deccan Aviation has announced the launch of a helicopter shuttle service from the Bengaluru International Airport (BIAL) to select locations in the city. The company said it will deploy a Bell 206 Jet Ranger for the service.

The Karnataka chief minister, BS Yeddyurappa, will inaugurate the Deccan Aviation facility at the BIAL tomorrow.

The service, branded as 'Deccan Skylimo,' will commence operations from BIAL to Electronic City, Whitefield and HAL in Bangalore from 2 July. Service to the Palace Grounds would be added shortly.

The first service would start at 0630 hours and the last drop at the BIAL would be at 1800 hours on a daily basis.

"The helicopter service will address the issue of airport connectivity for business travellers to the city and provide a convenient alternative to road travel," a company statement said. The fare for these services are in the range of Rs4800 - Rs5800 per person per trip.
