Sunil Goyal elected to CAPA board
New Delhi: The President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Sunil Goyal, has been elected member of the board of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).

CAPA is a regional body of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), which represents the national accountancy organisation in the Asia-Pacific region. The confederation represents about 7 lakh accountants from 31 national accountancy organisations in 21 countries across the globe.

Surgeon honoured
Coimbatore: The Royal College of Edinburgh has conferred the award of Fellowship `AdHominem' on laparoscopic surgeon Dr C. Palanivelu. Dr Palanivelu, Director, Gem Hospital (India) Pvt. Ltd said this was the highest honour from the world renowned Medical University in the UK, for his achievements in the field of gastroenterology and laparoscopic surgery.

Ratan Tata to be inducted into WEOY Academy
New Delhi: Ernst & Young, the leading global professional services firm, announced that Ratan Tata, Chairman of the Tata Group and winner of the 'India Entrepreneur of the Year' award 2003, will be inducted into the prestigious Ernst & Young World Entrepreneur Of the Year (WEOY) Academy on May 29 in Monte Carlo, Monaco (Europe). In 2003, N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chairman and Chief Mentor, Infosys Technologies had become the first Indian to win the award.

Sami Labs chief gets US honour
Bangalore: The Sami Labs CMD, Dr Muhammed Majeed, has been presented with the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in appreciation of his leadership and contribution to the US industry, according to a company release here. The medal has been instituted by the US-based National Ethnic Coalition of Organisations. Dr Majeed who heads the Bangalore-based herbal products company is also the President & CEO of Sabinsa Corporation, founded in 1988. Previous winners of the medal include former US Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton, singer Frank Sinatra, boxing legend Muhammed Ali, columnist Art Buchwald, Lee Iacocca and Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel.

Top-level shuffle at SRF
New Delhi: In a top-level shuffle at the Rs 935-crore SRF Limited, Arun Bharat Ram, who was Vice-Chairman and Senior Managing Director, has now been elevated to the position of Chairman and Managing Director of the company. Arun Bharat Ram has replaced Dr Bharat Ram, who has now been designated as Chairman-Emeritus of the company. SRF Limited has informed the National Stock Exchange that Dr Bharat Ram would continue as a director of the company. The Board of Directors of the company has also co-opted Dr Omkar Goswami as an additional director of the company.
